Does Yet Another Zombie Survivors support co-op?

No. Yet Another Zombie Survivors does not support local co-op or online co-op in its current version 1.0 release. It is a single-player game, even though one player can build a squad of up to three Survivors during a run.

The current store feature lists agree across platforms:

PlatformCurrent player featureCo-op status
SteamSingle-playerNo local or online co-op listed
GOGSingle-player, with offline play availableNo multiplayer feature listed
PlayStation 4 and 51 playerNo local or online co-op listed
Xbox One and Series X or SSingle playerNo local or online multiplayer capability listed

There is no second-player join option, split-screen mode, shared-screen co-op mode, online lobby, or player invitation system in the current game.

Why the three-Survivor squad is still single-player

The word squad describes the characters under one player's control. You choose one team leader at the start, then recruit additional Survivors from SOS Signals during the run. The group moves together as one formation while its members aim and fire automatically. One player makes the movement, aiming, upgrade, recruitment, and item decisions for the entire team.

Current version 1.0 gameplay follows this sequence:

  1. One player chooses the starting Survivor and team leader.
  2. The same player moves the full formation through the arena.
  3. SOS Signals add computer-controlled squad members to that formation.
  4. Weapons and abilities fire automatically unless the player uses the available manual aiming option.
  5. All level-up, item, and synergy choices come from the same player's run.

Three Survivors on screen therefore represent one player's build. They do not represent three connected players.

Is local or online multiplayer available?

Neither form is available in the current release.

Local multiplayer: There is no couch co-op, split-screen, shared-screen, or second-controller character slot. Connecting another controller does not assign a squad member to another player.

Online multiplayer: There is no host option, matchmaking queue, friend invitation, multiplayer lobby, or online co-op run. Steam Cloud, Xbox cloud saves, achievements, and leaderboards are platform services and do not create multiplayer gameplay.

Two labels can cause confusion. Steam lists Remote Play on TV, which streams the single-player game to another screen. PlayStation lists Remote Play, which lets the owner access the game from a supported remote device. Neither listing adds a second player or turns the squad into co-op.

Does the game support crossplay between platforms?

No. Crossplay connects players in the same multiplayer game across different platforms. Yet Another Zombie Survivors has no multiplayer session to connect, so there is no Steam-to-Xbox, PlayStation-to-Xbox, PC-to-console, or other cross-platform co-op.

The game being sold on several platforms means each player can buy and play a single-player version on a supported device. Multi-platform availability and crossplay are separate features.

Do not assume that cloud saves or demo progression transfer creates crossplay. Those systems concern one player's saved data on a platform. They do not let two people enter the same run.

Why the series name causes confusion

Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is an older and separate game in the same series. It is a tower-defense twin-stick shooter with local and online co-op for up to four players.

Yet Another Zombie Survivors is the squad-based bullet heaven spin-off. Its team members operate together under one player. Similar names, characters, weapons, and zombie themes do not give the two games the same multiplayer features.

Could co-op be added later?

There is no confirmed co-op release date or announced multiplayer roadmap for Yet Another Zombie Survivors. A developer response in January 2025 said multiplayer was not on the active task list while leaving open the possibility that plans could change. The completed version 1.0 store listings still identify the game as single-player.

Treat older statements about a possible future feature as possibilities, not promises. A reliable change would appear in official update notes and in the multiplayer feature labels on the platform stores.

Current platform availability

Version 1.0 launched for Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X or S. The developer announced Nintendo Switch as a later release. Every currently listed edition remains a single-player experience.

Choosing a platform should therefore depend on device preference, performance, controls, and store ecosystem. It does not create access to co-op or crossplay.
